Excitement on the Pogo Structures stand at the Salon Nautique in Paris: the French shipyard is launching a Pogo 36 and presented the first plans at the trade fair. The new boat will send the well-deserved Pogo 10.50 into retirement.

The shipyard is holding back on announcing details - the specifications and price lists have apparently not yet been finalised; after all, the first boat is not due to be ready until spring 2016. The project is therefore still in its infancy. However, the first renderings already reveal some exciting features. The designers at Finot/Conq have given the racer strikingly aggressive lines. The pronounced chines start high at the stern and extend through to the bow. The predecessor model Pogo 10.50 already had double rudder blades and a hydraulic swivelling keel, but a new feature is the option of a permanently flanged fin keel.

The shape of the cabin superstructure with its stepped flanks is also striking. This should make it possible to look from the inside forwards in the direction of travel when underway. In any case, this is precisely the idea behind the JPK 10.80 (test in YACHT 19/2014), whose deck has a very similar shape. The JPK 10.80, the Jeanneau Sun Fast 3600 (test in YACHT 24/2013) and the new Pogo 36 will presumably establish themselves as strong competitors in the class of ocean-going performance yachts around 36 feet in length. The focus of their concept: built and designed for long distances offshore, optimised for single and double-handed operation.

Below deck, the Pogo 36 has an interior layout suitable for touring with three cabins and a toilet room. Buyers can choose not to fit out the forward cabin or one of the aft cabins and use the space as storage instead. A galley with refrigerator compartment and two-burner cooker as well as a generously proportioned navigation system complete the living area.

Pogo Structures will announce the prices later. The predecessor model Pogo 10.50 was last available for around 164,000 euros gross, without the sails. It is quite possible and likely that the price for the new 36 will also stabilise at this level. Incidentally, Pogo Structures will continue to offer its new series Mini Pogo 3 will also be represented at the trade fair in Düsseldorf (Hall 15, Stand B13).
